Is my HTC 8x able to update to a newer software yet?

my htc 8x software is 8.0 but i am to update it a higher version.

You'd have to check with your carrier... If you use Settings > phone update > check for update and it says up -to -date, then that is most likely true. I think 8x is still dragging it's feet to get 8.1.
