Is the 620 speaker failing a common issue?

My 620 is fine but the one I bought for my son at christmas now has no sound from the speaker at all, the only way to get sound is using headphones. I've tried removing battery, reset etc. Am I correct in assuming it's a hardware issue? O2 have told me to take it back to their shop which I'll do tomorrow, before I do that I'll do a factory reset too and see if that makes a difference.

A shame as it's a great phone and we both really like it apart from this issue.

I too had the same issue,open the phone back cover n press the rubber like material around the speaker hardware. .i think this ill help you

Sadly it didn't work so I'm doing a full reset now and will take it back tomorrow.
