Since Verizon recently discontinued the Ativ SE will it continue to receive updates like WP 8.1 gdr 2 or Windows 10 for phones? If not is there a way I can get the updates on my phone some other way

I have no idea but I have my fingers crossed that Microsoft will do us well when direct to phone updates start rolling out, bypassing the carriers. There's no reason we should not continue to receive updates, our hardware is significantly better than that of most Lumia's out in the world and is the only other non-lumia phone released after 2014. All these signs point to YES but there's really no way to know until we receive an announcement from Microsoft at this point. Tweet Microsoft, call them, or write them a letter and let them know there are people that want this device supported! :D

Don't know since I doubt both the motivation of Samsung and Verizon.

Its certainly possible though.

Just got this as well, at least that's what the description was for. Still waiting for the firmware updates since I'm on PfD and don't want to reset and downgrade.
