Is the Surface keyboard backlit?

I was using the Logitech k810. It doesn't have a number pad but I liked it much better than the surface keyboard. The surface keyboard has the perfect layout but the lack of backlight is pretty much killing it for me. Trying to get used to it but I'm ready to return it already.

Thanks. K810 ordered.

The only thing I don't like about the k810 is there is no "home" and "end" button. Other than that, I'm enjoying it.

P.S @greglevenhagen on twitter said the surface keyboard IS backlit when I tweeted him. I'm so confused.

The Surface keyboard is not backlit. Microsoft ended up giving me $30 because of the mistake as they told me it was backlit and it is indeed not backlit.

You can just use the keyboard on the display....then indeed it is back lite. It isnt a full keyboard, but a partial. So it depends what you need the keyboard for. I havent been able to find the Alt key....grrr....

I used to think having back-lit keyboards was just a gimmick. On my old Dell laptop i never had it. but when you working in the dark, having that back light is fantastic. Even if it was an optional extra $20 for it. I would definitely pay. Thanks for the confirmation olyar15!
It is not backlit.

There are two keyboards that I know of, one is a very cool ergonomic design. I don't know if either is backlit however. Would like to though.

It is not backlit.

EDIT: Just read the previous posts, Seems like it isn't. Maybe Microsoft should change that fact-sheet then..

According to the fact sheet provided by 'olyar15'. It very definitely has a backlit keyboard.
Why do you say its not? The fact sheet looks legitimate.

You guys are killing me. Read the whole thread. I'm the original poster. I have the keyboard and have said it over and over here. The keyboard is not backlit.

What Microsoft buoyantly means by "backlit" is that the Caps, Fn, ScrLk and NumLk keys have an LED indicating when their functions are locked:
