Is the windows 10 upgrade worth it

With the windows 10 official release so close I was wandering if it's the right choice for the 640.

I would, but I would also reset it after the upgrade rather than deal with unforeseen issues stemming from the upgrade of wp8.1

Firmware isn't too far off where it needs to be, in my experience.

I am still wanting that Firmware though. I expect it will help Camera App.

Been driving Release ring 3 weeks now. Not bad.

For me it was yes and no. Lots of improvements, but I had some bugs that made me go back to WP8.1 for now.

Each build of WP10 or reset of the phone fixed one thing broke another. Perhaps my phone is a lemon, but it works more reliably on WP8.1.

this... I'm so addicted to HERE drive, that won't upgrade, at least till I try Sygic etc etc. and find a good alternative.
Also, I wonder where from TS heard about "official release so close" ? There are no dates announced, and all we have are speculations. Sounds like a catchphrase.

FWIW, Maps on W10M has turn by turn and uses the HERE database, The missing features, so far as I can tell, are customizable voice as one different from System voice (I always used UK male) and no ability to import HERE Collections to Maps Favorites.

Does maps use offline HERE maps as well? Being able to download maps offline in advance is a must.

Absolutely. I have the entire US on my SD card in my 640 for use with Maps.

Yes Maps uses offline maps if you've downloaded them.

I'm running W10M Insider Preview and from settings>system>offline maps...yes European countries listed

It's HERE maps data, everything HERE had, this has in terms of downloads. Also, if you have W10 on PC or tablet, take a look at the downloads listings. Maps is UWP.

Absolutely. All of my offline maps for Maps app are on SD card and work fine.

:grincry: that's a source for sure. Even if you go on dedicated WM10 release date thread, you will find nothing official. Dates, yes, they appear every week. One guy hears something from another guy who hears something somewhere...
