Is there any way to disable text message voice prompts when using Bluetooth?

It is extremely annoying when you're running on the treadmill to some music and then get repeatedly interrupted with a robotic voice saying, "you have a message from John Smith, do what to hear it or ignore?".. I get a decent number of text messages during the day and this is definitely something I'd like to disable but I can't seem to find a way to do so.. Any suggestions?

I have no such setting; my language is not supported, and choosing another language is the only setting I can tweak under "Speech". I still get a notification every time I receive a text message, telling me that my current language isn't supported.

Could you post a screenshot of your speech settings? It's definitely there for me. (Dutch language)

Go to Settings -> Speech. Disable it from there. Or you can set it to read out only on headphones instead of Bluetooth.

Open Cortana- > settings.....you can change it from there
