Need some help removing scratch from screen

image.jpg
My brother borrowed my Lumia 920 for a day, and this is what happened. A nasty scratch appear just below the front camera, along with some other smaller ones. There has never been any scratches prior to this. Any idea?

Re: Need some help removing scratch from screen

Depending on the depth of the scratch, you may try either to patch it up or to wear down the vicinity of the scratch. If your nail snags on the scratch, then you may try painting clear nail polish* onto the scratch. Once you've covered the scratch, gently wipe off the excess liquid outside the scratch using a piece of cloth (not tissue paper or any other fabric with loose fibers), making sure that the liquid forms an "even" surface with the vicinity. Wait for it to dry, probably for 30 minutes. Repeat if necessary.

If you nail doesn't snag onto the scratch, apply some metal polish onto the vicinity of the scratch and then rub vigorously with a piece of cloth until the scratch disappears. Note that this process will reduce the oleophobic coating on your screen and make it more prone to future scratches.

*- Or any liquid that hardens into a clear solid material.

Not looking great. I ended up creating several smaller scratches nearby!

That IS strange. If the screen of your phone is easily getting scratched (i.e. by simply rubbing a piece of cloth against it as in the instructions I shared), it doesn't behave like it still has the hard oleophobic coating on it. Do you frequently use alcohol (or other cleaning fluids) to clean your screen, e.g. from fingerprints?

I use the LCD cleaning liquid though, but I don't think the oleophobic coating gets any worse, since I haven't put on the screen protector for months.
