Is Xbox Music as mind-numbingly awful on newer Windows Phones?

I took my 520 back to 8.0 for mostly this reason. I use it strictly for music and 8.1 wasn't cutting it plus I had a ton of issues with the sd card that don't exist on 8.0. 8.1 is working great on my 822 but not so much on the 520.
You can use an app to pin the old hub. The old hub is inside the OS

Microsoft appears to be slowly but surely working on this app, even so it's amazing that it's in this poor condition on their own platform while it's passable on both Android and iOS. I understand that 8.1 is in the hands of developers, but it's amazing that this app in still in rather poor condition as we're starting to see devices hit the market. They made their Windows app passable, maybe they can manage that on Phone in the next year.

Lol. It doesn't even Sync playlists for offline playback on Android. Lets not get carried away.

I cant tell you how pissed I am with the Music app..it's a BASIC APP to PLAY my MUSIC??!!

I use my phone to play music while I drive..believe me, I have been lucky to run over people...ITS SSOOOOOOO SLLLLOOOWWWW

The music app/experience on 8.1 is by far the worst I have ever used on any device I have ever owned. It needs a MAJOR overhaul to even be considered usable let alone competitive. The store search is absolutely horrible, the app is slow, playback skips randomly, recent history is gone now... can't really get much worse. I have had a music pass since day one of Zune, but I'd be half-tempted to cancel it now because I can get a far better experience with a third party app. Zune was far and away the best music experience out there in its prime. Not sure why they decided to kill the entire thing and not just the name.

I don't understand why they took Xbox Music out of the core OS and made it an app.

By making it an app, doesn't that mean that it will always be slower than a core system application?

The argument for making it an app was we'd get more updates, etc. but honestly, we only needed like 5-8 more updates for the core OS player and then it would have been perfectly fine and wouldn't need any more updates. This isn't rocket science. Put in a scrubber, throw gapless playback in there, maybe make the heart button mean something, etc. and then you'd be done and could put resources on other things.

Let's just hope Microsoft won't notice bug they left in OS. I mean "Music Hub tile" app.

The thing is apps like Onemusic and Listen are fast, so I don't buy the excuse that Xbox music is slow because it is not a core app. I think it has more to do with how the app deals with DRM. They also need an option to reindex your music. As is stands right now the only way to rebuild your index file is to hard reset the phone.

Wait...you run over people? The worst my phone has done was display ...loading.... In an area with a sign that said no loading at any time. I waited with bated breath for the cops to descend. The Xbox music app finally stopped loading and became really fluid just as a pig swooped down and landed on the ground which had suddenly become rather chilly

I have no problems with it. I don't have music pass. 920 with 8.1. I have about 5GB of my music that I ripped and tagged. All my playlists I created with the phone don't have to wait for anything.
Play it in the car, play it at home to Bluetooth headset. All my playlists are pinned to start, don't have to open the app unless I need to make a new playlist or play particular tracks.

Absolutely unbearable on my LUMIA 1520! Been using Music Hub Tile to get access to the old music hub which is miles ahead in terms of speed and appearance. The loading issues and UI of the app are just beyond usability for me - I do have 30gb of music on my SD card but I don't run into any problems using the old music hub, or even MixRadio for that matter! As it stands, the Xbox Music app is abysmal on the 1520.

Give them a little time the app will get better. I actually quite enjoy the Xbox music app on windows 8.1 so hopefully its windows phone counterpart will become equally as nice

Given the recent updates it has improved quite a bit, though loading screens still pop up every now and then. Frankly I can't imagine this app ever being as fast and fluid as the stock music app from before. I used to think that Windows phone was just plain amazing in terms of fluidity and smoothness when scrolling and whatnot. But this app REALLY is dragging these days.

Hard to believe it will be better. Even this is beta version they are giving us biweekly updates. Why?
Is that app so bad they need to update it so often? They know they made ****ty app, so those updates are just an excuse for their "hard" work.
THEY ARE MICROSOFT FOR GOD SAKE! There is no place for excuses like that..

I avoid the app now like the plague. I'm using onemusic since the music controls take me there and not to the xbox music app like other apps. I've *gasps* torrented all the songs I had in my music pass collection and have deleted my music pass music for a while. Waiting for the app to be decent again.

It doesn't perform as well as I would like and as it should on my Lumia Icon. The resuming/loading screen appears, and there are slight delays after tapping something.

I hate this app. This is the worst app in the store. It's beyond me why MS can't get their heads out of their butts and make this work. At the very least, copy someone else's app that works to get it up and running. Media consumption is the number one thing most people do on their device. It's unacceptable that MS has let this get so bad.
