Hello,

I got my lumia 1020 recently,
its not new, its refubrished...
I am slightly disappointed with it, the xenon flash isn't working for some reason :[
Is there a way to check if its sotfware or hardware problem?
if I will replace the xenon part, will it work ?

beside it,
I am new with windows phone, so I have few questions,
How can I check that my phone isn't fake? as without xenon the pictures doesn't look like super high quality as I expected
in phone information, it shows phone model nokia 909...
Is there way to check phone specification with the phone?
Is there any advanced menu to control the phone? for now the only I found is the settings, its quite annoying
when its not divided to topics :\
I didn't checked yet, but is there option the skip song with volumes buttons when screen is off?
and the last, can I add backlight notifification? that the touch buttons will glow when I got missed call/notification?

Thanks alot!
hope to like the new OS :]

I got my 1020 through ebay, and although all seemed to be in all-around mint condition as advertised, I still took it over to att for an associate to give it a quick review. You may want to consider this with your carrier; they may be able to shortcut your fake question and otherwise troubleshoot any issues you have.

Make sure your flash is not set to off in the camera app settings. Don't know what can be done otherwise. You have >40 system controls plus 11 application controls under Settings. If this is to limited or annoying, you probably got the wrong phone/OS. Unfortunately, you do have to unlock the screen to activate the volume and music controls. I don't know of any light notification option.

The Settings --> extras+info page should give you all the specs. The 909 model designation on the about page is correct for the 1020.

Hope your device is legit and works, or that you can return it. Best of luck in learning and enjoying a great phone: expect the best.

I tried to turn on the flash, and many more things without any luck..
can you screenshot your screen in the extras+info?
what should be listed there?

Mine reads Lumia Cyan (in large Cyan font) at the top. Then there are version numbers specified for 9 items including Firmware Update Notifier 1.2.0.5, Lumia Share 2.5.1.0, and SIM Unlock 1.0.0.5. The lower section includes an 18-digit Core Build ID, an Application Version 3.12.0.3, and a Build Creation Date of 6/24/2014. At the bottom, it reads MADE IN CHINA -and mine is beautifully so.

Can you upload a sample of a photo you took with your L1020? This will help us narrow things down.

My L1020 also says "Nokia 909".

I haven't heard much about fake Lumia 1020s, except for a "clone" which had a speaker inside the "camera" hump at the back instead of a real camera.

The fact that the xenon isn't working should really be enough to return the device. Stop tinkering with it and start calling/emailing the person/company you purchased it from.

Those images just don't look right to me.

I agree with Nick_1020 - the first photo doesn't look like the xenon flash fired at all, hence the under-exposure. Bring it back and have it replaced as soon as you can.
