Issues with the music app

Hello all,

I have noticed a couple of issues with the music player app on the 520 and I was wondering if anyone else had these issues and if so, how they solved them.

First one I noticed was that when I add music to the folder on my phone labelled Music, I add each track only once. Yet when I look at my songs/albums on the phone, I see each track being listed twice or sometimes three times in the same folder. When I delete the 'spare' ones off the phone, the one that is showing up as still being on there won't play. This is driving me loopy! when the songs are showing up two or three times, they will play two or three times, yet when I delete the extra ones, the other one won't play at all. Frustration is not the word.

Also, the other issue is that when I delete the music off my phone so there is nothing in the music folder, when I look at my phone, the music is still showing up as being there. So I downloaded some apps which claim to erase the history of what you played/watched on the phone but they don't. I still have to go into the music folder and open the albums and manually select all the tracks that are still showing as being there and delete them that way, It takes forever and is annoying the hell out of me.

If anyone can advise anything I would be very grateful.

Thank you for your time.

Hi, I find on my phone (HTC 8S) this happens occasionally. After deleting songs I find it best to restart the phone.

Try to search for the answer first, cause mostly, someone else will have had the same issue :

http://forums.windowscentral.com/xbox-music/202825-music-sync-issues-songs-showing-up-twice.html

The solution(s) provided in that thread are straight-forward though :

1. Turn off Xbox live connection (settings->applications->games-> Connect with Xbox Live-> OFF)

In most cases that would solve the issue.

2 a). Use "mp3tag" or similar application (on the pc!!!) to remove the advanced tags from the songs

I think that advanced tags (such as "DISCNUMBER", "TRACK" and so on...) are causing it. So what I did was that I downloaded a program Mp3Tag (but any other mp3 tags editor will work just fine) and I put the whole folder (Album) into the program then selected all the mp3 files and then I removed the contents from the tags that weren'tt basic (I kept just album, artist, title and just the basic ones the way they were). That solved my problem, hope that will work for you *** well.
about tags, you need album names and album artist to make Music + Videos work well, but Nokia Music is not that demanding for tags, it works pretty well just with title and artist tags

OR

2 b). Clear out the albums and artists folders, and recopy or resync your music...

If you have double songs there, then just clean your album and artist folders (it might remove all songs too, when you do that), then just sync or move your songs back to your cp - then album and artist folders will be created automatically again with single information (no doubles)

Hope that solves it for you.
