I like coding in Java (because that was the first OOP language I learned). I use programs like BlueJ and Greenfoot for writing/compiling code and giving visual effects respectively. With 10S locked to the Store and Bluej not an option, where do I write Java code? Don't suggest web apps because I spend a lot of time outside without WiFi and also they are low on functionality (as far as I know) . Any help is appreciated.

You can upgrade the OS to Windows 10 Pro for free until the end of this year and to my knowledge that's the only way you can get all the functionality you need (exe files), unless of course if developers of those tools convert the tools you need to UWP apps, which I assume won't happen any time soon.

^ What he said. It's a laptop for simple people by default. But, you can always upgrade to Windows 10 Pro to make it like any other laptop out there.

Word.

I don't know why so many people are "freaking out" about Win 10s (no you Jayesh, you just asked a question, but people in general) when you can just Go Pro for free this year and a minimal cost after this year. So many comments about this being junk and stupid and useless. I don't get it.

Upgrading to the Windows 10 pro is your best bet. but the only reason you should be worried about getting W10S with a new laptop is if you plan to buy a surface laptop.
