Hey. I just bought a brand new lumia 720 in black color. I was an iPhone 4S user before coming to lumia 720 and here are my thoughts about this phone:
It has an average screen, not bad but nothing amazing.
Windows Phone 8 OS seems boring. And no action centre?!
The phone itself is fast and smooth. No lags.
Zero multi-tasking.
WhatsApp, Facebook & Instagram apps suck in WP8.
The camera is the best thing in this phone. Love the awesome selfies.
Build quality is good, but iPhone was on a whole other level.
Battery life? Oh yeah, I'm lovin' it.
Love the double tap to wake option. Simply magical.
No swype? My friends HTC 8X has a swype keyboard. I'd like that but not complaining.
Everything else seems pretty decent though. I'm still confused whether I made a good choice or just wasted my money. Sorry for the long post, Happy surfing!

What do you mean by zero multitasking?

Update it to Windows Phone 8.1, should provide you with a better experience and resolve all your issues.

How can I update it? It says your phone is up to date when I check for new updates through settings.

Enroll in Preview for Developers here https://dev.windows.com/en-us/develop/devpreview .
then, Install the Prev for Dev App In your Phone.
After that, as what they said, ALL YOUR DISLIKES will be LIKES except the apps you said. They are really behind but i know, soon, it will level up. Additionally, there will be Live Folders and Cortana.

But, if im in your case, enjoy your Windows Phone 8.0 yet. Wait for the final Release of Windows Phone 8.1, its not too far now, maybe a month. it has been released in other countries now.

Okay so I gave Windows & Lumia a shot! But unfortunately, it didn't work for me. The social integration of the apps was very disappointing. Everything felt like it needs polishing. The OS itself needs some polishing. They should include the turn on/off haptic feedback for the soft keys which annoys me. Most of all, I was missing my iPhone and its highly polished apps that I was used to. I believe WP 8 is actually better than Android in many ways, But it can't just get to the level of iOS. Not yet. I'll give Windows Phone and Nokia another shot in the next few years to see if they have improved. Instagram is there for Windows Phone. But what? Its slow, feels slow and out-dated. Same goes for Facebook, Whatsapp, Viber Etc. They need polishing. I bought the phone yesterday and sold it back *Had a huge loss* and Got an iPhone 4S unlocked just now. I feel happy now.
Lumia 720? Err, its good. But it just didn't work for me. It was NOT smart for me. I absolutely loved the double tap to wake option. Probably the best feature of Lumia phones. And amazing camera. But that was pretty much it. So anyways, Hope you guys are enjoying your WP OS & Phones. Cheers!

Pity your experience only lasted one day. Have had my 720 for over a year now and really can't complain. I've never owned (or wanted to own) an iPhone, so I'm in no position to compare the two. The only thing I do know is that for the price of 1 iPhone 4S you can purchase 3 Lumia 720's.
As always, it's all about personal preference and I hope that one day in the future WP will get another chance...

While you experienced what the iPhone can do with its latest OS you didn't get to experience what the L720 can really do.

Battery, multitasking and every feature of the OS.

WP8.1 is massively improved compared to WP8.0. Too bad you sold it so fast.

Too bad its the developer preview only, means only the "Developers" should go for it. It was not available for public and this certainly means bugs that need to get recognized and fixed. :)
