Hello all,

I thought I would just introduce myself. I have been here on these forums before but never really dove into Windows phone (well we have a backup 520/521 when we were on ATT) because I was always busy with Android/iOS. I have owned iPhones since the 3G model and I currently own the iPhone 6. I thought I would change it up some and try the Lumia Icon because of its stellar camera and Windows 8.1 looks like a good little OS (based on video reviews and little time on the 520/521).

Having 6 lines on my Verizon account, I feel it is a good idea to have a backup phone in case someone's phone needs to be sent out for repair or if something comes up. I decided to finally purchase the Icon after mulling it over for a few weeks. It should be here Saturday and I am looking forward to play with Win 8.1 on a previous flagship model. Who knows, if I like it a lot I may just sell my iPhone 6 64GB and pay off my EDGE balance. I could then buy the iPhone 6s or see what flagship phones Microsoft pushes out late this year.

I know there may be posts already dedicated to these questions but is there anything I should check on the Icon as soon as I get it? Known common issues? What are your guys' feeling on the camera compared to the newer flagship phones out (win and non-win)?

I hope to learn a lot about this phone since I think it will compliment my other potential Win 10 machines (Xbox one, Surface Pro 3 and my own built PC).

Welcome to our family, hope you enjoy your new beast!
I suggest you to read about the camera, the hardware of the camera.
Look for Ziess optics, DOLBY digital plus 5.1, ...

Well, the item came in damaged. The screen seems to have had water in it so I am asking the seller to exchange it.

I purchased the phone at about $130. At that price point should I stay with the icon? Or should I buy a brand new 928 for the same price or spend a bit more for the 735?

It seems like the icon is the way to go, correct?

How disappointing! If the seller will switch out for a working phone, the Icon is worth every penny of that $130!

Wow! And he didn't mention it when he listed it? Even if he does replace it with an Icon, that deserves a comment for feedback; regardless of if it was deliberate or not.

Well, he said he will send one out when he receives the old one. He said he will double check the new one to make sure there aren't any issues.

Yea, 130 is a good price. I won't mind a few faint scratches on the screen but what looks like to be water damage, nope.

Trust me, it was hard not ordering a new 735 or 928 instead of a used icon. But, I can wait another week for a higher spec phone.

The icon or in the UK as we know it as 930 is an amazing phone. Get that water damage sorted

Well, another one came in and same issue (thought not as bad this time). he took off 25 bucks for the trouble. So I basically paid 90 ish dollars for this.
I love the camera though
