Keeping texts

Ok so Ive lurked around here awile but this is my first post. I tried searching for this topic but came up dry.

So Im going to do a master clear on my phone. But I would like to try and keep all of my old text messages. If I was to copy all of the files in windows/messaging to my card and then restore them to my phone after the reset would they all be back where they were.
