Kindle app for Windows

Besides the software download, is there a substitute Kindle app for Microsoft Windows 10/8.1 in app store?

The "current" PC download on Amazon is Kindle for PC [Download]
Platform: Windows 98 / Me / 2000 / XP

Sounds really outdated.

I downloaded the PC version on my Windows 10 PC and it seems to work fine with quite a few features like highlighting, note taking, etc.

Are you talking about the 'send to kindle' app for windows? That they have at Amazon.com to read pdf's and .doc and stuff on the kindle?

The only PC version is the one provided directly from Amazon.
