TLDR: the industry still has the Moore's Law Disease. Building software that requires Nvidia 5xxx offends to groups: global warmests & people on a budget.

It is puzzling that CDPR is changing engine, it looks like they finally had figured it all out with the latest Cyperpunk DLC, and that engine has been a visual reference. When you see Indiana Jones or KCD2, it shows that good visual does not require Unreal Engine 5.

I'm not sure that "Unreal 5" is the problem necessarily.

Nightingale is open world and performs quite well in 4K even on my potato of a machine (Ryzen 2600, 3060Ti)

That being said it does seem harder to optimise than other engines.

But then again I'm also an old f*** and think anything over 45FPS is fine for single player games and happy to turn some settings down.

Terrian generation in UE has been one of the most accessible tool sets that exist on the engine. Including grass etc..etc.. Nanite mesh works on any static mesh. It has always worked on trees. Any amateur developer can spend a week and create a fully fleshed out open world on unreal it's that easy. There seems to be an underlying trend for people to act as if Unreal is something it's not. It has successful openworlds. The games might not be good. But that's not the engine. That's devs and their Dry artistic expression... Wukong. Flintlock. Immortals of Avium. To fortnite and Sea of Theives. To the absolutely enormous Pax Dei.

So let me get this straight... some guy talked to some other guy and the Witcher 4's open world is not yet complete, so therefore Unreal is a piece of trash. Got it. Makes total sense and I definitely want to hear more from the child who made this statement and the child who wrote it down and posted it in an article as if it was true, mattered and made sense. (sarcasm, for the uninitiated),
