L520 - Can't hear caller

Hey! Last year I gave my father Nokia Lumia 520 and I got 535. Today he said that he can't hear people when he calls. So we tried and He couldnt hear me and I did hear him. Then we tried speaker and he could hear me, but couldnt in his earphone. Is this hardware problem? Did anybody else experienced this problem? Thank you
