[L520] Cricket denies Cyan!

I was on Cricket for a while before AT&T bought them, and I'm not surprised by what you're telling us. Cricket is awful, going into one of their stores felt like I was signing up for welfare or food stamps. Awful people...I hope things have changed since then.

Is Cricket service cheap? Just wondering, I'm pretty sure it is cheaper, but I don't know firsthand.

I think you can use Nokia Recovery to push the AT&T ROM. since AT&T and Cricket are the same company now I don't even think that would be an issue.

I was asking because I was thinking, maybe updates are a way to cut costs on their end.

If that's the case, then it is a failure that lies at the feet of Microsoft. The L620 and L520 hardware is the same the world over. The only things they add for the aio/cricket versions are just cosmetic (ringtones, 4G indicator labels, boot splash screen, and visual voicemail registry settings). Microsoft should have a separate partiion with that data, so a global ROM could be pushed and the phone still maintain the carrier customizations, that way, a carrier cannot deny an update.

Well it's owned by ATT now so not sure if they want to save on costs by not releasing updates. I am actually happy that the phones not receiving the update are global versions that can be flashed to any generic ROMs unlike the 810 and now icon which are stuck with Amber and Black forever

I have a 1320 from Cricket and I just got my update yesterday.. I was on Dev. Preview before so I don't notice much of a change. I don't know what the wimpy 520 users would do with Cyan if they got it. Cricket is awesome for me, I looked into getting a 1520 through ATT my current plan through AT&T would have cost almost $250. I pay $65 only because I max out on Data usage if I don't....

The 1320 is exclusive to Cricket at least in the US. As a result its really your only chance to get the update. The 520 doesn't need it because of the AT&T version. It would make since to just push the AT&T version to everyone automatically on either network. As for does the 520 need it? Yes it does because its the only "official" way for it to get Cortana. Many people are afraid of using the DP for one reason or another. Having the official firmware pushed automatically without any intervention fixes that. Its still good even if there are no issues with BT4.0 or DP issues.
