[L520] Proximity sensor not working?

To rule out a hardware fault...

Clean the screen over the sensor (you probably already did, I'm just being comprehensive). If a screen protector covers the sensor area remove it or trim so there is a cutout over that area.

Still? Soft Reset and test again. (Soft Reset is holding the Volume Down + Power buttons until the phone vibrates and reboots.) Softy Reset does not cause you to lose data, but can clear up glitchiness by cleaning out system memory.

Still? Make a backup and then Factory Reset (Settings > about > reset your phone). Plug into AC as you will need the battery to stay powered. This will completely reset the phone and put it back to the last update you had and you will restore your backup during the setup process after signing into your Microsoft Account. Even better: install a fresh copy of the latest OS and Firmware by using Lumia Software Recovery Tool found here: How can I recover/reset/restore my phone software? - Microsoft - USA The advantage of LSRT is that if there are any corrupted bits in the OS files on your phone's memory they can repeat and a clean install is always better for "blowing out any gunk" that may have accumulated.

Still? You have a hardware fault and might seek repair, but the cost of repairing 520 often exceeds the value of the device...
