Let us know how that goes. I have Redstone on a test phone and it appears fine but always concerned about making my main phone run (more) beta software.

I know what you mean, it's a huge difference for a phone lying around compared to one you actually use. It's only been a couple days but it's put me on notice so far. Need to really give it a week for it to settle down to really know.

I didn't start fresh. I restored my back up onto .420 and then I upgraded to 14371. I'm actually going to hold off on 14372 until I have a good feeling on my usage patterns and battery result. Pleasantly surprised thus far, but .420 did the samething to me in the first couple days

The other huge variable is I have a brand new phone compared with my day 1 original one. Maybe something was wrong?

So I never really worried about the heat levels on my day 1 950XL... It wasn't that hot and honestly, I kinda wanted it to get hot cause I figure burn it out before the warranty and get a new one hahaha.

I'm just about a week into my new 950XL and redstone 14371 and my experience battery wise is huge compared to my old 950XL and .420. I'll never know though if it was hardware, software or combination of both!

For sure on redstone, they either manage the background tasks better, or more aggressively make things shut down or simply kept better under control, less apps able to run away with battery management. Maybe it was simply a hardware problem (my 3g/4g radio's died on my old 950XL)

In the below pic, the first few days were a bit rough in that it was getting everything set up the way I like and I take my time getting to them all setup and what not,but now it's really settled down. 1+ days was unheard of for me previously, where my typical experience was 8-10hrs. Rarely do I see the discharging rate at such a low number of 2.53%.. previously it was always going nuts at like 9-13% most of the time. I still see the higher numbers depending when I hit it but with much less frequency.

Whatsapp is still a big draw for me but no longer the clear battery usage killer.

I never really was unhappy with my old 950XL, just kinda accepted the battery times, but frustrated about hearing 1+ days from others. I'm quite pleased with my new 950XL and 14371. Time to goto 14372, turn back on Windows Hello and Hey Cortana and see what happens!
