Lenovo is someone I would be very happy to see a WP8 from. That would shoot straight up to near the top of my "must see" list.

I think I mentioned it in a tablet thread, but I have something of a ThinkPad fetish. The classic black one, that is. And I think a bit more of the original design would work with mobile devices as well, especially as the featureless design would be even more featureless when turned into a phone or tablet without all the ports and slots a laptop needs. It would just be a matte, monolithic slab with a touchscreen, one that looks like it really means business.

I saw the Windows 8 ThinkPad Tablet 2, and judging by the pictures it has rounded edges and is even glossier than the first one. I'm disappointed...

I should make a concept image, but I haven't bothered setting up all the software on my Win8 Preview.

I think the limitation with the Padfone is that the tablet doesn't work without the phone. I think a typical situation would be that everyone has their own phone, while with tablets people will have one or two that are shared by the household members.

Why would anyone share a tablet? The whole idea behind the tablet (and laptop) is you can take it with you. So how is somebody gonna share when it's always with you? Very rarely will you need to take the phone out of the tablet. At least for me this would be the case as I want a larger screen to view video, read emails, etc. I see zero point in resizing the screen and all that jazz when I can just get a larger screen.

As far as Nokia's camera's go, Nokia has two serious camera phones. N8 that is two years old and 808 PureView. So don't really see the point there when Nokia makes almost the same amount of different models a year like Samsung.

You can't go arguing with design with others, but at least Nokia is trying to do something different. While Asians seem to be mostly doing same plastic phone time over time.

When talking about Nokia the main thing you hear is how great the camera is. I could give a rats bum about how great the camera is on a phone. In my opinion it isn't a selling point. So what exactly is Nokia trying to do differently? Please inform me because I don't see it. I've never seen anyone braggin about the Nokia their rockin and most new phones look the same these days.

I would be shocked- lightning bolt style-shocked- if we see smartphoes from Dell and HP. HP I am still very bitter at for killing WebOS.)

I don't think anyone in their right mind would trust HP again especially with NutMeg in charge. HP can rot as far as I'm concerned.

And Samsung has breath taking designs? Yawn. Rectangles with rounded corners for every model. Now in black or white. Their only saving grace is the horsepower they pack.

Yeah, you're a Nokia hater. We get it, but for you to think Samsung "brings something new to the table" is pretty funny.

I've had 2 Sammies & 1 Nokia. Until this partnership with MS I had forgotten Nokia even existed! They have the inside track with MS and the Lumia line is the best they could do??? Are you kidding me? They have a chance to blow everyone else out of the water and so far all of there rumored designs have been L-A-M-E! :dry Where's the innovation? Where is the great designs? There crap looks like everyone else's to me. Actually they look like what everone else WAS doing years ago! Do I hate Nokia? No. Do I now wish MS had choosen a different partneR? YES! :straight:

Even I don't get it. Everywhere around me, peolpe just go ga-ga over Samsung. I never, ever liked their designs. Am I clearly missing out on something big or the world has just generally gone tad bit crazy?

I think Nokia just got lazy and they still haven't woken up! Sammy has a lot of features and they think outside the box. I do predict there will be a 7 inch phon-let from them to go along with the Note2. :straight:

All phones have cameras and have for years now. If they didn't mean anything, they would have been discontinued a long time ago. 'Cides a 41MP camera will get bragging rights over a mere 8. (said with tongue planted in cheek)

Galaxy 3 looks like a Galaxy 2/looks like a Galaxy Note/looks like a Galaxy Nexus/looks like an Asus PadFone/looks like an HTC etc. You see where I'm going with this. Rectangles with rounded corners. *shrugs* It's just personal preference when it comes to aesthetics, but I don't get why you say that Nokias are boring to look at when Samsungs are so "cookie cutter".

I just think Samsungs are like supercharging a Toyota Camry - you know they're faster than ****, but in the end they look like a Camry.

It's obvious you've never even looked at the PadFone site have you? :straight: This is a game changer and for WP8 to be successful it's gonna take something like this to stand apart from all the rest. I wish Nokia would take a MS Surface tab and add phone guts but I doubt they will. A fancy camera ain't gonna do it. :dry Not hating on anyone that wants it but it's nothing to write home about. Your right though personal preference does have a part in all of this but I think once people start using these they won't want to go back to tiny phones.

Oh I've played with the G3 and was amazed at how light it was. I think it would make a good WP8 device but still too small for me.

There are many who use them mainly as home devices, as they are more comfortable to use for reading and other casual stuff than a desktop or laptop. The number of WiFi-only tablets available should prove that point. Other than that, they are basically oversized smartphones, and except for people with long commutes or serious social media habits, most get by fine with their phones during the day.
