Light bleeding?

I have some light bleeding which I notice when it's only in dark screens. Is it really worth going back and exchanging it or every one has these issues?

It really depends on how severe it is. For example, mine bleeds from one specific place (the same place as the biggest bleed on this picture, but smaller: 1qymyWu.jpg ) and that's it.

If yours is like mine, I would not bother for an exchange, but if it is like the one in the picture I included, you must definitely ask for an exchange.

Not that bad. I just hate playing the exchange game with bestbuy lol. Did it with my iPad Air a few years ago for dust under the screen...just gave up eventually

I don't think you will get a Surface with a perfect screen. Apparently the majority would have bleeding due to the LED technology. It is what it is. I am getting used to mine, but at times it is really annoying.

I have the same as in the picture. But only on the bottom part, same place and size.
At first i got a bit annoyed but the, i saw that under normal use and movie whatching, the bleed was not noticable so i'll let it slide and won't bother with an exchange.

I just hope it is not a simptom of a problem that will develop later on.

I had to Exchange two SP4s due to dead pixels, and all of them suffered from light bleed. I wouldn't bother returning it because of light bleed unless it was too noticeable under normal circumstances.

I remember reading on some thread over here that MS support told a user that the light bleed is a known manufacturing issue and that it is being looked into and will be addressed going forward (am assuming in future production batches)... the timeline was mentioned to be somewhere around Jan, 2016. So I am waiting to hear feedback from folks who purchase in the second half of Jan before I decide on buying (I am not in a rush and can wait for these kind of issues to get resolved).

I think your going to always going to have it due to the nature of the technology and how most if not all companies do QC. They check one or two out of a batch and assume every other one is OK. Just cheaper to do that than check every device.

I have a medium tolerance for light bleeding because of this and as long as it isn't glaring bad I'm OK with it.

I have light bleed at the bottom edge and in a spot at the bottom left center. Anyone else have this?

In case anyone cares, I just received my SP4 (i7/16/1TB) from lot 1602. It has a small amount of light bleed on the bottom (1-inch wide over the HOME/F8 key). It is only visible at high brightness on a dark screen. I never use high brightness so for now I'm considering it a non-issue.

I think everyone has lightbleed in the same area. I've personally opened / seen over 10 units over the last week, all from lot 1551 - 1552 and they all had it in the exact same spot. I'm pretty confident it's their by design because of the bezzel size at this point.

what you have isn't really light bleed, it's called a defect and should be returned to the store in which you purchased it.

Im glad someone actually looked at the pic i posted more closely and saw the spot that has light bleeding through in a weird smear type way. I can't see it during normal use unless I have a dark screen or if I look very closely, but it is bugging the crap out of me every time I boot it up.

How much is your brightness turned up? Does this represent real-world usage for you? If yours is like mine, some light bleed is only visible on a black screen with brightness turned all the way up, while I'm in a darker environment. That's a situation I'm never in. If I don't see it in real-world usage then it isn't worth my time to worry about it much less replace it.

I exchanged 5 different Surface Pro 4 from i5 256gb 8gb-16gb ram to i7 256gb 16gb ram models, from Lot 1546-1552, they all have the same light bleeding issue, some are better but it will have other minor defects like loose power button or kickstand or blow out speaker. After many trips to the store exchanged them, I just gave up and settled with one only have the fair light bleed from the bottom part of screen, and try to just enjoy that beautiful device. I also purchased the Microsoft complete to ensure in case the screen get worse. I really like the Surface Pro 4 product, I even purchased two new Microsoft docking to have different setup at my work office and at home. I hope Microsoft will improve their quality control in the next batch Surface Pro 4.

this the light bleeding on my device. what do you guys think i should do? my SP4 is from lot 1549View attachment 121525View attachment 121526View attachment 121527

That's pretty minimal compared to others. However, I would still demand one without it. Microsoft has stated light bleed is not " by design ", and should not be present on any device. Call them, and tell them you want to make an appointment to go into an MS store. This boils down to how agressive you want to be.

It's at the brightest setting with power save off in the darkest location. So real world situation it isn't an issue. Looks like most people have the same bleed in the same general area, I think I'm better off with what I have, don't wanna risk exchange it for something worse.
