Limited edition Nokia phones on Verizon Wireless for father's day

I took that to mean that there were big apps to be announced/released in July and they would release new colors as part of the marketing effort.

You are right. Red 928- confirmed , two unconfirmed colors and an unconfirmed color for 822.
(my own opinion) All limits edition devices are tend to be available for a short time to create a hype but in the case of Nokia since both devices are well over their quotas ( 822 #1 mid range seller and 928 a distance 3rd in high end devices) there may be no need of limited edition devices. Since the Microsoft effort/ updates all are software related I am positive you will be able to get the new changes on all lumias

Thanks for the bit of confirmation. I almost want sales to slow down so that I can get my red 928 sooner rather than later.

Update: It looks as Microsoft and Nokia has collaborated to bring something fresh and unique to WPs which will be reveal in July

Hmm.... I wonder when in July. My upgrade is the 30th of June. Would it be worth waiting?

I'm thinking it is a software update. So, you can get a phone when you want and will be able to get the update when it is available. There have been rumors of this update for a while so it wouldn't surprise me. Sounds like July will have new 928 colors, new color for the 822?, possible Pureview launch 41mp launch, new game(s) and an update with new features for Nokia devices. I'm sure they'll tie it all together with a marketing blitz that is far too small, but it should be fun to see the new stuff.

Hopefully not too small. Say what you want about it, but iOS 7 brought a lot of new functionality to the table (the iOS table, not necessarily new functionality in terms of mobile as a whole) in a nice, fresh package and was a big drop in terms of moving the platform forward (I think). Windows Phone probably needs something similar soon to keep the momentum it's been gaining and make the push to double digit market share. There's a lot of great things going on but I believe there's still room for innovation and Microsoft has it in them - just a matter of making it happen.

My upgrade was the 30th of May and I'm still waiting :). I think in addition to the new colors, the 928's that are released in July will be a bit better build quality than those that are already out.

I'm excited for all that will come to the WP world in the month of July!

I would happily keep waiting but I'm kind of anxious to get on WP and out of my Galaxy Nexus. I don't really have anything against Android as a rule, but my experience using this phone has slowly but surely gone from good to bad and now it's just frustrating more than it is not. So I don't know how much longer I can wait.....

Though I think the build quality thing is a legit concern.

I just re-ordered the white 928 from Newegg. The color in the end doesn't matter much to me and I couldn't wait any longer. Any news coming in July will apply to all 928s (minus color obviously) and I don't imagine any special editions are going to get the $29.99 treatment from any retailers.

If that 6-27 date ends up sticking we'll be able to qualify for the $25 app store promo if we buy before the end of the month. :) Hopefully we'll hear a little more from the rumor mill next week so we know if they are coming for sure. I wonder if Nokia will be releasing the wireless charging desk cradle and car mount state-side in July, would be nice.

As a side note, my brother picked up a couple 928's and the sales rep made the comment, "We are sure selling a lot of these, for some reason people like them." LOL

I was one of the people who really wanted a cyan or red version. I couldn't wait and bought white. I have dropped this phone twice and the screen has shattered twice. The second one I went through was dropped from 2.5 ft off the ground. Because the screen goes to the edge of the phone, it is very prone to shattering if dropped on a corner. My point is that color will not matter, because you will NEED to buy a case. It is a phenomenal phone still, but in the end it really does need a case to protect the screen from being nicked or shattered. If you are planning on holding out for the 928 in color and don't want to use a case, stay aware from hard surfaces...

Dang, sorry to hear that man. You have insurance on it i'm guessing? I'm definitely going to get some sort of insurance plan on whatever device I get. Of the white & black, i'd like to go black but I don't want to have to risk dropping it :\.

Hopefully new colors come out and they're sold at the Microsoft Stores so I can get a nice waranty. I haven't broken a phone in 10 years.

Yeah I have the insurance. The black one is definitely a bit slippery. So, I am back with the white one now

Price cut is temporarily as Nokia is trying to beat GS4 sales on Verizon. If Microsoft gets its act together, L928 will be a big hit especially comes July if it isn't already

Another great way to differentiate from & beat the GS4 would be to release more colors :)
