LINE buys MixRadio from Microsoft, vows to continue streaming music service

In a surprise announcement, LINE messenger has picked up MixRadio from Microsoft. LINE is one of the biggest messaging services around, although it is mostly prevalent in non-Western countries at the moment.

Microsoft announced the news on the Lumia Conversations blog. The deal is expected to be completed by "early 2015" with the MixRadio team staying in Bristol, UK.

This was a surprise.. Who would've thought LINE buying the service and vowing to keep it running too.. I'm shocked! 😨
 
Keeping it 'running' and keeping it updated with modern funtionality are two entirely different things.

Look at TuneIn Radio: their WP app is still technically 'running', but it hasn't been updated since the WP platform launched. The UI on iOS and Android is two generations ahead, bears no resemblance to the older WP version.

The news for this platform keeps getting worse by the hour. First Nokia and HERE, now this....
