My Hotmail account was spammed/ spoofed/ hacked/ compromised last week. Changed the password twice! Will never again use it to send any email. The miscreants sent out 333 emails in one day as me!
MS tech not very helpful, even says they can shut off the account if they determine the account ids generating spam!
Checked header sources and discovered ip addresses from China, Venezuela, Buenos Aires but no specific ip owners.
Something is NOT right when MS can turn off my account because of something some one else has done to me! Will see what the password change does, although the tech report said that the accounts get compromised from normal forgotten password processes - the spammers try to sign in as the owner but with wrong password, system then asks person to decipher wavy text. Spammers may be human or have character recognition programs to decipher!
Problem is, I ported all my contacts from my yahoo account to the hotmail account so my windows phone contacts could be populated! Now at least 333 contacts were spammed as ME!
