Lock screen problem

I just got my Surface RT couple days ago and I have a problem with the lock screen feature. I can't unlock the screen after it is locked for a few hours. I tried to press the "Start" button, it vibrates but the screen is not displaying, only a black screen, I'm forced to restart it every time it's locked. Is there something wrong with the settings?

That sounds like something is wrong. Mine does it sometimes too, but very rarely. If this problem continues I think you should do a refresh or reinstallation of the os.
