Long time Android user checking things out

How is it going everyone! I am a very very long time Android user and have decided to give Windows 10 Mobile a go. I just ordered a Lumia 640 XL as my test phone and it should hopefully arrive this week. I am excited to give it a try, I have always been fascinated with Windows Mobile but always stayed in my comfort zone with Android. I decided when I watched the Keynote on the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL that I wanted to give it a go. I thought they phones looked great and the OS looked pretty awesome as well. I look forward to asking questions and learning the ins and outs of the new OS.

Little background on me, I work in IT so I know my way around a lot of tech. I have been using the desktop version of Windows 10 since it was in beta so hopefully the experience is similar. I am also an Ambassador over on Android Central (please don't boo me!) I like to adventure out sometimes and try something different. I have tried the iPhone a few times and never really liked it, I own a couple of iPads (they are my wife and son's NOT MINE). All that being said I look forward to this adventure with all of you.

I am a dual OS user myself so no one will yank your chain around here...Nexus 5, Nexus 5X, OPX and Nexus 7.

Haha, don't tell them I am over here they might vote me off the island or something. I am hoping the 640 XL is a good start, glad you think so. If all goes well I may just order the 950 XL so we shall see. I look forward to getting all the help I can out of you guys.

I thought it was time to venture outside of my comfort zone and I like the Windows 10 mobile look. When the phone comes in i'll get it updated to 10 and let you guys know what I think of it.

So here is the deal with WP. The 640XL will do really well for the price you paid. The 950XL I would wait because you will pay flagship price and not be too happy because there is an app gap and people get all worked up because of how much they paid and now they cannot find their beloved apps. The 640 I believe personally is the best device to dip one's toes in the ecosystem because the price to performance ratio of that device cannot be beat by any other comparable Android device. Apple's silicon case for the iPhone 6S costs more than the Lumia 640, enough said!

I follow you, yeah I plan on using the 640 XL for a while to really give it a test. There were a lot of phones out there but the 640 XL seemed to be the best bang for the buck that I could see. I needed the 5.7 screen as well, I am starting to get old man eyes so big screens help me out.

I've been known to browse around the "sister" sites and even post around on occasion. Haven't really done the "intro" thing, because I haven't bought the devices. I'm a happy man with Windows 10 Mobile on my Lumia 640. I'd like to have a 640 XL, but, well, I'm a tightwad and the 640 was cheap. Being retired, it is my prerogative to be a tightwad.

Hope you enjoy playing around with Windows 10 Mobile as much as I. You won't get the benefits of USB-OTG or Continuum without a phone specifically built for Windows 10 that advertises it has it, but the 640XL is a capable device, especially for the price.
