Well depending on if you have Pop3 account or IMAP. Outlook Express was retired and awhile and was renamed Windows Mail in Vista and completely retired after that. POP3 email accounts connect to an email server and the emails are download to the PC using the email client in your case Outlook Express. Now there is a setting to can set to delete emails from server as after they are downloaded. Plus most ISP limit storage space so most likely older emails have been deleted. IMAP accounts don't download the emails and you view them on the server and when you delete in the client they are deleted off the server.
