Windows Central Question

I was trying to set up skype and used my Microsoft account details as it suggested (which we use on our PC but have never used on the phone). I never did get skype app working, but after all that, the phone contact list has disappeared - it's just empty. The shortcut tiles to people on the home screen have also disappeared.

How to get it back? I got online and removed the phone from the Microsoft accounts list. But then it said to reset the phone, which I don't want to do as it warned that all pictures/data/personalisation would be removed?

How can I get the contacts list back?

It's a Microsoft Lumia 550, running Windows 10 mobile.

when going to outlook on the browser, go the people tab and see if your contacts still show there

Thanks.. not sure what Outlook browser you are referring to, but when I go to the People App, under contacts it just says "none". However, if I start to dial a number, the name will come up... so I hope that means the contacts are still there somewhere, or is it getting that info from the call history?

I have "Outlook Mail" and "Outlook Calendar" in the list of Apps. Can't see any People tab within those...

Using your PC, go to outlook.com in a web browser of your choice, sign in with your Microsoft account, then at the top-left you will see a blue button, click it and it will expand and show you all of the Outlook/Office features, one of which is the People app - see below.

This might not actually help much, but it's worth a try. But to illustrate how bad Microsoft can be at times, they did something a couple of months back which meant I lost all the pictures that I had associated with my contacts, it had taken me ages to pick out and assign the pictures I wanted, and it's all just gone, for the second time! I was/am really annoyed about this, and will now never ever use this feature as a direct result of this! It makes for a very boring and plain People tile on the "Start Screen" of my phone.
