Loving the OS but ...

This app doesnt seem to be in the store via the normal searches but I can find it via another link but says it isnt availble on my phone, so either it doesnt work on wp8 or it isnt available in the uk or doesnt work on the lumia 820

Try this link.
http://betalabs.nokia.com/c?n=54950.../s?appid=dd91f5d5-9cf8-4d1d-8fba-beaa01fafa47
it's still available from Nokia's Beta Labs.

To make it even easier go to search on your Lumia and tap the eye to scan the pic below.

Unfortunately if you try to get that app, it'll tell you that it won't work with your new 920 because it only supports wvga resolution, ie windows phone 7. So you can't get it. :(

The cloud is actually just as secure if not more secure than having them stored on the hard drive. Plus I really don't get why people want to see those indicators constantly. No news is good news ya know?

For number 8, type the word in a text box, highlight it like you're going to copy it, and if it is one not in the dictionary already it will give a + (word) option in the autocomplete bar above the keyboard to permanently add it. May have to scroll left to see it, but it will be there.

So just to confirm whether I'm understanding this, and to follow up on the OP's question about this, will your suggestion allow custom shortcuts like these examples that I currently use on my BlackBerry:

I type "hh" + space bar and it automatically converts it to "headed home"
I type "itz" + space bar and it converts to "it's"
I type "wru" + space bar and it converts to "where are you?"

Thanks for any clarification/confirmation.

Thanks that explains why I cant get it.

And to somebody who said the cloud is just as secure as your hardrive this just isnt true as I can take certain steps to make more harddrive more secure than the average consumer but we then have to trust that microsoft is treating my data just as securely.

for data usage search for call credit in the store. Been using it for a while since Orange messed around with their own usage app. Call crdeit works well in the UK

When it comes to backups it's good to have both local and offsite solutions but the way I manage backups, which is pathetic, I embrace Da Cloud, LOL!

Thanks, not too keen to input my account details so it can connect to my account to work this out though.

I understand. I just bought the phone. Stil llearning. I will try and help. We can figure it out together. I have some of the same concerns. My biggest one is lack of file manager.

It took me awhile to get comfortable with my contacts and calendar entries syncing with Windows Live/Outlook.com but I realized the issue was with me. I come from a BlackBerry environment and I'm used to plugging it in and syncing with my desktop. But years ago, I was concerned that if my BlackBerry were lost or stolen and I hadn't plugged in and backed my BlackBerry up recently, I would be missing everything since that last backup. So I subscribed to a service called SmrtGuard (now SnapSecure) which backs up everything overnight to their servers. BlackBerry has since come up with an internal app called BlackBerry Protect. I viewed all of these and beneficial. But with WP, when I saw I had to sync with Outlook.com, I balked at first. Then I realized, it's the same thing I'm doing with my BlackBerry, only it's free and automatic. If anything happens to my phone, I can recover my data easily. It's really a great comfort.

That said, that is just my viewpoint. I know others may have other needs and concerns and for them, having the flexibility to turning of the automatic backup of contacts and calendars may be desirable. I just see it as an option that saves me from my own recklessness.
