Lumia 1020 and QR codes

Hi Everyone,

Just got my new Lumia 1020 and one of the first issues I have noticed is I cannot, under any circumstances get the Bing QR reader to read a QR code, it seems like it is trying to focus on it but then it just goes blurry and says "Barcode not found"

Anyone else experiencing this?

Anyone have an answer to this?

Stand father away. The camera can only focus greater than 5-6 inches away. With 41MP, there isn't much need for macro lenses.

Yea but then it doesn't pick up the QR code

That's not quite right. I just did some testing with my 1020 and a tape measure. It picked up QR codes from my computer monitor and a magazine with no trouble, quicker than my old Focus S. Here are the results of scanning a 0.75" x 0.75" QR code on a magazine page from various distances:

12" away: Took a few seconds but it eventually got it. The QR code was really small on the phone screen.
8" away: Picked it up immediately.
6" away: Picked it up immediately.
4" away: Picked it up almost immediately 2 out of 3 times. Had to move the phone out to 4.5" once.
3" away: Unable to focus.

5-6" seems to be the sweet spot. If it doesn't work at that range, you may want to take some pictures of things at different distances and make sure your camera is working ok.

Yea, I did some similar tests and got it working, just very different from my 920 that I could just point at QR code without worrying about distance. Its all good now

I get the feeling some of the apps will require updates to work with the 1020. Translate is a little finicky with the 1020 and close focus as noted where the 920 would just go into macro mode to pick up fine text up close. I would anticipate a bunch of app updates.

maybe the camera does not autofocus in barcode scanner,or the barcode generated is with some problems ,you can check this link for help
