Lumia 2520 plugged in not charging

Hi windows Central

I had just received a new Lumia 2520 as a gift from some friend abroad

when i connected to charger it opened and started fine but the battery level didn't increase !!
even after i left it in charger for more than 24h

I checked the battery status i found the notification 0% plugged in not charging

Is this a Battery or Charger problem ???

the problem that is device has no support or spare parts here in Egypt I would need to order any form online store and take about 4 weeks to reach me

Hmmm... All kinds of questions.

Is the charger marked "Nokia" or is it a 3rd party unit?

Input should be 100-240v 50/60Hz
Output should be 20v DC1.5a

Are those values correct on the charger?

If I'm not mistaken your power should be 240v 50Hz...

The charger that came with the 2520, what country was the origin? What type plug? Your recpticle: is it the same type or do you use an adapter?

the charger is Nokia with the same parameters you mentioned , Model ac-300
the tablet side connector is cylindrical with green light when it is plugged to power

Unless you had another unit to try it on, it is hard to know if it is the charger.

Between the two, new charger is cheaper and easier than new battery.

Just to be sure, there is no adapter between the charger and the wall socket? Nothing in the way that could be a disruption?

Acutely the is a converter from US type to Europe type of plug
But I had tried to change it

Both charger or battery costs to me almost the same and time needed to deliver

I'll try to find a notebook charger with same connector

Would it harm to try with 19v 5.5 amp charger ??

It might tell you some of what you need to know... The chip in the battery should protect it, but I sure wouldn't want to pump so much extra current (4amp extra) into the battery long term.

I'd plug in and see if the battery at least recognizes current is coming in.

FWIW, there are generic chargers for 2520. At least on eBay US. Mine looks like the 4th one down the list and works just fine. nokia 2520 charger | eBay

Maybe you can even find one with the Euro style type C plug.

thank you for your advice , I'll try the 19v and will try to find the least amp to check the battery status
if it worked fine I'll order the same charger you recommended

I'm in Egypt so ordering it will take at least four weeks to reach me

I'll let you know the feedback for sure

The laptop charger did not solve the issue
And also the charger you recommended on eBay

Would I go to change the battery ??

Sounds like it could be hardware then.

I understand no Care Center is available. Any competent and trustworthy PC repair center might be able to help.

I honestly can't say from here... Sorry.

You could try replacing the battery pack, but what if it is a bad chip somewhere, or the port is damaged? That's where you need a qualified diagnostician.

We're getting past what I reliably can answer. I know it's a risky operation is about all.

Let me try and get a second opinion in here.
