Can the 520 be setup on Verizon? I do not have any experience with smart phones and sim cards. I need to replace a phone for my elderly mother that is using a dumb phone on a share everything plan. She only needs talk and text and does not use any of the data on the plan, so I thought this would be an excellent phone for her to use for texting and also because she needs something simple as far as the UI goes. (she has a KinTwom now).

If i get a 520 from wallmart or other store.....will it come with a sim card that can be setup on Verizon?

Thanks for any help, the only other low cost option I figured was to buy a used Lumia 822 off the bay for about $70-$100.

The answer is no, you cannot use the 520 on verizon. It is a gsm phone and verizon is CDMA, so it won't work.

Thanks for that answer.....I could not find it searching google for some odd reason. I guess I will have to keep an eye peeled for a 822 on the bay then.

Depending on where you live, you might check Craigslist as well. I like it over eBay because I can physically hold the item and inspect it before I pass the cash along. Keep in mind if you are looking at a phone, meet the seller at a Verizon store. Two reasons, that is where you will need to go to activate the phone and it's also a public place for safety.

I find it odd that Nokia has never come out with a 520 for Verizon. Much as they have the 521 for T-Mobile. Verizon sure could use a good starter smartphone, they could call it the 522, much as they had the 810 for T-Mobile, the 820 for AT&T, and the 822 for Verizon and Sprint. I don't know but it seems like there are some big holes in the coverage in an important market area.

I agree they should have come out with a 522 for Verizon. But the on the other hand, I am not sure if Verizon would like that, as they want people to sign up for contracts.
