Lumia 520 Water Damage (I believe)

So I recently (around December) purchased a Lumia 520 for my Mum as a gift. She liked the phone, all was good, until she dropped it briefly in what I believe was "wet sand". I'm thinking it was dropped in water, and I'm not sure exactly how she managed the problem at first, but I know it wasn't turned on. Now, I've tried my best to salvage this phone, and it does switch on. It works. I can use the touch screen, navigate the OS, everything is fine!

Except...

If I so much as touch any of the buttons on the side of the handset, the volume is then stuck on "00/30". There's no way to turn it up and make it stay there. Oddly enough, if I manually increase the volume via the volume control app, and don't touch any of the side buttons, the volume stays up.

Should I just call it a day and buy a new one? I'm unsure what to do at this point. I've tried the rice thing too, it didn't do much.

You should visit your nearest Nokia Care Center. They may fix it or give you a replacement.

Try taking off the cover and blowing around the button areas on both the case and body with some compressed air,as there may just bE some grit you can't see wedged in there. If that doesn't work, take it to Nokia care. Cheers.
