Lumia 630 from Cricket Wireless for "Free"?

I wasn't sure how to word the title, but basically I'm considering taking advantage of the Cricket promotion to get a "Free" Lumia 630. Being on T-Mobile, I would obviously prefer the L635 for the LTE and better network compatibility. But if I read the promotion terms correctly, "Service must be active and customer must make second service payment within 45 days of activation to receive card", you only need to make two payments to qualify. So even if I don't use the Cricket service, at $35 a month for their cheapest plan, that would only come out to $70. Does anyone know if this phone would be locked to Crickets service? If its not, then heck I might consider it.

So Aio is now Cricket, hmmm, interesting. I put in my IMEI for TMO 810 and it says it will work with Cricket. I guess the phone needs to be unlocked. So by the same token the 630 needs to be unlocked before it works on TMO. You might be better off getting the $99 version from Metro PCS.

I also considered the Metro PCs one for $99 since I know the 635 will have LTE and work better with T-Mobiles network. But I have the same worry that it will be locked to just Metro PCs. Also if Metro PCs requires a likewise mandatory month or two of service to purchase the phone, then it could end up costing twice or more the $70 I'd pay for the Cricket one.

Good thing i just sold my 620. and did you notice the 1320 is only 229$ before discount.

I think I'd rather have the 630 on Cricket anyway since speeds are capped at 8 Mbps. Without LTE you'll get better battery performance as well.

I'm used to my iphone 5 so I'd like to have the higher speed. whenever I swapped to my 620 the slower load times kind of bugged me.

I jumped on this, I am on Cricket already. I did a BYOD (928) when I switched. No matter what I do can't get MMS to work. I was able to get it for free too so not just for new customers. Planning on getting a new high end phone when they come out. With this being free I figure it will hold me over till then so I don't have to go any longer without MMS. Speeds should be about the same as I get on the 928.

did you buy the device in store?

I ordered the phone online. I called the local store and they told me the rebate does not apply to current customers but I'm submitting the rebate application anyways.

I got my new 630 today from Cricket, now I hear that on July 25th you can buy a 635 gophone for $99 and it will work by just popping the cricket sim card into it!! I most likely go buy one!!!!

me too. this thing is awesome!!
the shell is glossy which I like but all the reviews said the 630 comes in satin finish.

No luck here with getting one. I've called they can't find the order (wasn't charged). They tell me to order again still nothing. I think I will just wait for the 635 so I can get LTE.

The cricket sim will work in an att phone, but nothing else.
