Lumia 635 windows 10 installed but no cortana ??

just got my 635 from Microsoft store
installed windows 10 but no cortana is visible..

what is the current build people show..

I know I did about 3 updates yesterday during the day ...

just surprised it wasn't there...

Which region do you belong to?
Cortana is currently available as Cortana beta in US and Cortana aplha version in India UK and China. For accessing Cortana beta version set language region to US and US English...
Let US english download and phone prints you to restart and after booting you can access Cortana!

Ok.. stupid question

just purchased a unlocked 635 from the Microsoft.

I have a htc 8x right now..

here is the question...

am I able to just take my sim card and put it in the 635 with no problems and will detect and I can operate fine.. or does my carrier have to do anything in the background?

also am I able to switch my sim card back and forth from the 8x anytime and just use it normally.. ?

right now.. I have windows 10 on the 635 but no cortana.. and I hear that the voice recognition is off a little too I understand its a technical preview.. but I like to use my 8x for normal use right now and then when I want to play around with windows 10 just switch my sim card to the 635

I have never had an unlocked phone before..

As far I know , unlocked devices work on all sims regardless of carriers!
You can do as you please with the sim...but switch sims too often on devices, as when you enter your sim, it integrates with your device....so to be on the safe side...use a dual sim device!
But the main thing sim will work on an unlocked device so dnt worry !

hey.. I changed my region and restarted.. Cortana showed up.. but says not available in my area.. language is u.s. English

Settings > speech > speech language > English US

Settings > language > make sure English US is at the top of the list of languages currently installed in your device !
If not then simply long press English US and select "moveup" option

A suggestion : If English US doesn't work , you can follow the same procedure with English UK with region settings set to UK.
