Lumia 640 can't update from Build 10166

Hi guys. I just got a 640 and decided to try out the insider preview since I've read the new 10586 is quite smooth and capable as a daily driver. I am now on 10166 which is perhaps ancient and trying to update from that. Windows Insider says the update is available but when I go to Phone Update it just says the phone's up to date. What should I do now? Do I have to do a hard reset?

Use the Recovery tool and go back to 8.1 then go to 10

You may have to redownload the Windows Insider app and re-enroll in the program.

I was stuck on multiple phones with 10166, the only way out was to go back to 8.1 and then go to 10 after the 500 builds came out..
