Lumia 640: How bad is the front camera

So how bad is the front camera on the 640? Kind of important to me

I am used to at least 1.2 or 1.3 which shouldn't make that much of a difference...lol. How bad is it?

Huh I don't have a 640 to try and doesn't seem many here have what you want.

Maybe try reviews? I've seen some reviews of the 640 popping up.

Not that bad. But it is low resolution, so don't expect too much. The 5MP of the 730/735 is better, but even that is not fantastic.

I've noticed the selfie camera on the 735 looks not that great but the same selfie camera on the 640 XL looks loads better. Wonder why that is.

It's the same resolution, but it might be a different sensor. When I tested the FFC's on the Lumia 535 and 735 (both supposedly the same), I found that the 535 produced more balanced results, whereas the 735 struggled with dynamic range (usually blowing out the highlights). I also tested the 640 at the same time, and found that it produced shots which also had better dynamic range compared to the 735, although obviously at a much lower res.

That issue is probably fixed with update 2 and its appropriate firmware.

How bad is that camera compared to a Moto G 2014? I am shocked at hubby's bad camera photos with his Moto G. Even my $99 point and shoot from 6 years ago is better than that.

Certainly can compete with cheaper p/s cameras (though no optical zoom).

But if you're serious about cameras, don't use Lumias or iPhones. Get a real camera.

I have a very good Pentax p/s, for 250$. This is what I use normally. The Lumia is only used occasionally. Cannot compete and the iPhone neither.
