Notifications will not clear from top of phone once opened...so, it looks like I've always got new notifications. Any ideas. Thankyou.

Try a Soft Reset. Hold the Volume Down + Power buttons until the phone vibrates and reboots (about 10 seconds).

Once you open the Notifications screen, you'll still need to swipe the notifications away to the right to get rid of each group of notifications.
