Lumia 928 to 950

When moving from a Lumia 928 (running W8.1) to a Lumia 950 (W10), is it safe to restore a backup made from the 928 to the 950? Or, is it recommended to start clean? I'm switching carriers too if that matters.

Don't do it! I wouldn't recommend it. Back up your texts though and they will slowly return.

Yes, but you have to set the backup for texts to start as soon as you can. It takes a little while, but if you can set the backup process to happen soon, you will be able to have all of the texts restore on your 950.

Don't know that but I can say that Lumia 928/8.1 is million times better than 10. It's fast! What's good on 10 is that Office apps are often updated compared to one on 8.1 which is old as WP7

You can do the restore. However, your apps and home screen will be set up for the smaller screen, so you'll have to rearrange it a bit to make it look good on the new one.

I have done it (from an 830), and it worked. After I had to factory reset after a software update, I didn't do it, because it forced me to create a new start screen. I did that, because I was getting tired of the old one.

My 950XL still running from the backup taken from my 1020, no issues.

I wonder if there's a reason why the experience is varied. I did that (restore from a backup) and so many things were broken, and not working right.
