Lumia 930 bad reception

My brand new Lumia 930 has really bad reception, I have 4g network and on my previous Lumia 830 it worked fine, but 930 can't even use 4g because it is always on 2 bars maaaybe 3, I can't talk to anyone, constantly loses connection, wifi also isn't as good as it should be. I've tried switching sim cards, put my sim in friends phone signal is good, and his sim in my phone signal remained weak. So I opent the back cover and found one metal line taped to the battery. Does anybody know what this is, or how to fix reception problem?

Re: Lumia 930 bad reception

With the experiments you did it looks like a hardware problem. I would suggest to go back to the store and explain what you did and get the device changed.

Re: Lumia 930 bad reception

I have no idea what that metal piece is. Is that soldered in near the top?

Do you see the yellow flex at the bottom of your pic? That is the antenna. There is another one on the other side of the phone. That flex snaps onto the motherboard under that metal tab. If it is not snapped down, then you will get bad reception.

If the phone has been opened and closed a few times, sometimes the connector on the cable gets damaged, and won't snap down. In that case, you can replace the antenna flex. It's a <$10 part, and not too hard.

As for 4G - what country are you in? That phone won't get 4G in the US.

You can take that internal cover off, which would tell you a lot. It takes a T4 Torx screwdriver to do it. If you do it, be careful - the screws are easy to strip, which make that repair much more difficult.

Re: Lumia 930 bad reception

I live in Serbia and like I said I had 4G on Lumia 830 all the time.

Yes I've seen those two flex cables and they are attached they can't move, so maybe they are faulty I don't think that software is the issue. I don't want to experimet with opening it myself I still have 24 months of guarantee. And about that wierd metal thingy, yes I believe it is soldered at the top of the phone, maybe the goverment is bugging my phone
