Fair play - phone received this morning. It's perfect - screen is sitting flush, camera button is blemish free, vibrate is spot on.

Was a bit of a faff to get to this stage, but we got there in the end. I appreciate the guidance from Lemmiwinkles on the 'screen lift' thread or I might not have pushed as hard as I did, and may well have allowed myself to be fobbed off at an earlier stage.

Moral of the story: if you moan enough, they'll eventually fix it.

Hi

I'm having a nightmare at moment. Was experiencing double tap to wake not working and screen staying black on calls.

Went for repair and even though I had email come back saying they were replacing the handset my original handset has been returned with the back cover loose and I can see screen lift in top right corner and bottom left which wasn't there before.

I'm now having it collected again because the fault I reported is still there, but intermittent now, but also because handset is in worse condition than when I sent it off!

I have compared my handset with others in store and have seen some with screen lift and others with it being completely flush with the aluminium frame.

Return it and if they mumble about it threaten them with Consumer Protection Laws. Last thing they would want is a trial with the authorities.
I am starting to think that MS is lacking a decent QA/QC Team and a decent customer service team.

Sorry to hear of your woes. Maybe I got lucky.

All I can tell you is that I sent off my faulty phone and got a perfect one back first time.

Well I received my handset back again last Tuesday and it already has same problem. So annoyed. I sent a letter with the parcel explaining that since the initial repair the problem was intermittent and not permanent and also highlighted where there was screen lift. To my dismay when going on the nokia track my repair I could see that it was with someone for less than 10 mins before being deemed not faulty with no mention about the screen either and it was being dispatched back to me. I immediately contacted the support person I was in contact with and said I was really concerned about getting it back wrong. They managed to re-route the handset to check for themselves and they agreed that the screen was lifted once they checked themselves. They then organised for the phone to go back to the repair centre to get the screen sorted. It arrived back and looked much better, plus I could tell they replaced the frame as my original one had a small mark on it. However, a week on and that area in top right is once again lifted and causes double tap not to work and screen to stay black on a call. If I squeeze that area together first it works fine and on a call but after a short time happens again. Yesterday morning I took the back cover off, which was surprisingly easy and tightened a screw in that area and lo and behold it started working again fine despite the screen lift. However, today it is happening again. I will highlight this again to them but have reached the point where I just cannot be bothered to send it back in, especially at xmas when I could do with the handset for pictures etc.

If you do that again, it would be perfect to ad some picture with a screw which need to be screwed.
Upper right corner of my L930 is little lifted but for now everything works fine.

Ok sure. The back is actually pretty easy to get off but I don't recommend people do it if they don't feel comfortable with it. Basically when the sim tray is fully removed you can see a small portion of the back cover poking through which is like a clip. If you gently press against that with a small flat tool you can pop it out. Then you can gently prise off the back cover which is just basically clipped in around the frame. Then when you turn the device over screen side down you can see a small hex type screw (size t5). Mine was a little loose so I tightened it some more, this immediately got it working again. Today for some reason it was acting up again but this evening its fine again. It could be just coincidence but I think it is something to do with that because before I did this it would work when pressing the area together so it got me thinking whether something wasn't quite tightened up enough. I will sort a couple of pictures out to show you what I mean but in the meantime if you search Nokia Lumia 930 disassembly on something like youtube you can see something take everything apart. I have an orange Lumia 930 and I've ordered a black back now because I would like to see that back cover with the aluminium frame. I like the idea of it over the all black one.

My black replacement cover arrived today. I like the look against the aluminium. Only thing is it didn't have the flash module so had to take that off the original one and doesn't have the wireless charging parts in it!! I think I could probably peel off the connectors from the old one to charge but not confident to do it.
Not tried taking battery out as not had need but yes it doesn't look too bad to do if you had to do it. Got me wondering about larger batteries now. Good thing is though that I have now gone a couple of days without the double tap to wake issue not working or screen remaining black since fiddling with that screw as indicated. Had a small period where it didn't work but so far so good.

I'm not sure. I bought it through a place called mobilephoneslcd who basically stock spare phone parts for lots of different makes. I've seen on ebay you can pick up the wireless charge part for about ?7.00 so I may purchase that and stick it on this one.

Via Nokia Live chat:

"The [camera button] discolorations are cosmetic. As per the warranty terms and conditions, cosmetic issues will not be covered by the warranty."

Ship me a phone with a s**tty camera button that wears prematurely due to a manufacturing defect / quality control issue and then tell me it's not your problem. Thanks, Nokia.
Try talking to a Nokia live chat agent again, and see if they can escalated your case ! When this happens you will be called a few days later by another agent, who can work something out with you, other than sending your phone away for a week or two, just to not even know if it'll be accepted and repaired. I had a 925 with a faulty camera a few months ago, that was supposed to be fixed several times but came back still messed up, so I had my case escalated, and I convinced the agemt to send me a new one.. The agent even agreed to send me the att variant so I could use it on my current carrier...( I originally had the T-Mobile one)
