I'm not one to complain, but I feel like I need to share my recent negative experience with the Lumia 950. First things first, I have been a windows phone user since 2012...back to the Nokia Lumia 920 days. For the most part, I absolutely love the windows phone OS and the unique offerings that set it apart from the iPhone and other Android devices. Like most of you, I had been patiently waiting (same goes for the friends and family I convinced to jump to WP) for a "premium" device that took the place of my 920. After the less than enthusiastic unveiling of the 950 and 950XL, I still decided upgrade my wife and I to the 950 since it didn't look like anything else would be on the horizon for quite some time. Honestly, I was pretty happy with the 950, it wasn't as beautiful as hoped, but it got the job done and it was an upgrade from the 920. However, a month ago, things took a drastic turn. My wife's 950 would have a full charge and randomnly reboot and her battery would drop to less than 15%. She spent most of the time next to the charger as it wouldn't ever last her more than an hour. It would make an awful screaming noise that wouldn't go away until a soft-reset was done. After almost 2 weeks dealing with Microsoft, I finally received a shipping label to send her phone in and she is resorting to her 920 in the meantime. It gets worse. My phone last week started to randomnly reboot, maybe 5 times a day, but no loss in battery life. Then it continued to get worse, it would restart once every few minutes. Now my phone is COMPLETELY unusable. It restarts and can't even complete the start-up process without rebooting again. It will retry for hours. If it does finally succeed, the phone is locked and must be plugged in for 2 hours before I can gain access (security mechanism). Alternatively, if it does boot up, it only takes a few minutes before the screen turns a blurry yellow and a loud screaming noise ensues.
I have tried everything and have had no luck. For the record, I haven't dropped my phone or gotten it wet. I'm on the latest firmware and OS updates. I've reset my phone and restrained from downloading any 3rd party apps.
Needless to say, I'm extremely disappointed. I just submitted a repair form for my phone and will likely do the same dance with Microsoft which will take over a week to get the green light to send it in.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
