None of the Lumia phones (besides the 1320 and 1520) have gotten the Black update yet, so I'm guessing Nokia is finalizing a few things before releasing it (or giving the 1320 and 1520 some bragging rights before it goes to everybody else).

I hate this - to delay updating existing devices. This is very dumb move because there are so much other platforms and devices to choose from.

Update should be available early next year..
Talking about competition, lot of androids in 15-17k range never get any OS updates.. AFAIK

Black should be available after January for mid range devices. The flagship devices will get the update first. Hope they don't delay as much as they did with Amber.

Nope.. I think last time they had issues with some of the lower end devices.. If testing is successful all lumias will get black at around the same time.. In the month of Jan.. And then in May we may get windows phone 8.1 and in it a girl friend called CORTANA.

The best devices are the flagship devices. Lumia 1020 and 925 (1520 and 1320 come with black pre-installed).

Lumia 720 is a mid range device.

Isn't that obvious? GDR1, GDR2, Amber, GDR3, Black; that's the order. Although Amber and Black are Nokia device's exclusive.

flagship phones are high end phones (have all latest features and hardware) Lumia 920,925,1020,1320 and 1520 are current flagship phones by nokia. out of which I am sure Lumia 920,925 and 1020 will get the first taste of black update and later in mid Jan other Lumia's will get it.

Buy a Samsung Galaxy Duos and live with 2.3.6 till the phone or the USB charging port dies on you Be glad you are getting updates even on mid to low range devices and that the device performance is pretty close on every device from a 520 to a 920
