Folders came with Cyan...whats the firmware # and do you have the equalizer?
Folders did >> NOT << come ewith Cyan. They were introduced in Lumia Denim. Don't believe me? Search "How to create folders on start screen on WP". The official website will tell you, that you need denim.

I have Cyan and I have had live folders for months.... the Equalizer is visible new feature for Denim.

Just post firmware revision and we will know for sure. Also verify equalizer.

How to create Live Folders on Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 ..its 8.1.1 that brought Lumias Live Folders NOT Denim http://www.windowscentral.com/how-to-create-live-folders-windows-phone (Aug 4 , 2014)

From http://forums.windowscentral.com/ask-question/339756-lumia-phones-such-l630-no-equalizer.html
"You don't have Denim yet but it could be the extras+info bug. I can confirm that Lumia 630 with Denim firmware does enable equalizer"

And like I said this is a marked answer in the Microsoft Community:

Windows Phone 8.1 Cyan doesn't add Live Folders to the phone. The Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 (8.10.14141.167 or higher), which is currently available only via the Windows Phone Developer Preview program adds Live Folders to the phone. See the Windows Phone 8 Update website to see what the differences are.

The Windows Phone 8.1 started rolling out to Windows Phone 8 users via the conventional channel a few weeks ago, but the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 has not yet been tested by the carriers and so it will be available to users via the conventional channel sometime in the future (there isn't any published schedule for this update right now because the carriers have only just started working with it to add their bits to it before it is available for a wider audience).

I have Windows Phone 8.1 GDR 1 now upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile on Lumia Cyan..have had LIVE FOLDERS for months, Its NOT a Denim thing. Now the equalizer shot is Denim...but NOT of your phone you copied it from here:

A. If I had Cyan, I wouldn't be able to create folders, That feature was NEVER put into Cyan. You can say it was, but it was never.
B. If I was trying to fool you, Don't you think I would say I was running the full version of Windows 10 on phones?
C. I'd appreciate it, If you stopped spamming my thread with comments that have nothing whatsoever to do with the topic. And if you have a 1020, With are you doing in the 635 forum.

I did what you said in the first post. I can say it's not denim, but I can see why you think that.

Before;

Notice how the firmware version does not change, and also there is no equalizer in the settings. The build date also does not change.
The insider program simply updated Windows version (not the firmware) to the latest developer preview, before installing Windows 10, make sense?
I don't know why it showed the notification for welcome to denim or that it says its denim under the extras and info...probably a bug....yup, I rebooted and now it says cyan again. :)

The disagreement here is based on the semantics. When Microsoft officially released Cyan, it was two things. The firmware, Cyan, and the operating system, Windows Phone 8.1.

Denim is the same thing. It is the firmware and also an update to the os, WP 8.1 Update 1.

Live folders is a feature added to 8.1.1. Where the problem lies in explaining it is that with the preview for developers program, you can get 8.1.1, but firmware can only be delivered through official channels. So, you get the software additions, but your phone will still (accurately) report that you have Lumia Cyan.

This reply should be pinned somewhere thus ending the confusion, and associated questions, about this stuff.

Well I think carrier controlled firmware is finally over with windows 10, apparently L635s with Cyan were being updated to Denim first before going to Windows 10 when signing up for the preview.

This Post is in error about OP getting Denim he did not on his 635 except in his mind...move on.
Basically what happened is OP got updated (with his little W10TP trick in video) to 8.1 GDR 1 not Denim as his title claims..he posted a screenshot of Equalizer from January tying to trick us that he was successful in getting Denim.(that post got pulled)

The video is good at showing how a newbie should go about signing op for W10MTP for that I give OP kudos

Folders came in 8.1.1. It has ZERO to do with Denim. I had folders on my Lumia running Black firmware with Preview for Developers version 8.1 Update 1.

True, but signing up with the Insider app and activating a branch, and you don't have Denim, it gives you Denim first before entering an update process for Windows 10.

This is all true - but I'll add oone thing for the sake of peace and civility.

Most of us in the Windows community know about developer preview. We get the difference between firmware and software. But we need to keep in mind that Microsoft pairs software and firmware for their Lumia consumers.

So when Microsoft says "Denim" they are referring to WP8.1 update 1 with it's corresponding firmware. We know there's more to it than that. But that doesn't mean we should be condescending or stubborn about it.

Let's be the community that welcomes casual consumers and enthusiasts alike.

No is does not. Read the post I posted as to availability..its simple NO denim on 635 (in USA) yet...there is a Denim Info bug

That did not happen in this case. I hope eventually MS pulls all updating away from carriers.

He didn't get an update for the extras+info setting so its NOT the info bug. He got an update via the update setting after enabling an Insider branch, which updated his 8.1 build and didn't bring him to 10. So you tell me how that isn't MS giving his phone Denim OTA.

There is plenty of information proving this on this thread...

For clarification... Windows 8.1 GDR 1 is NOT Denim (Can be Black, Cyan(OP) or Denim Lumia Firmware)
Denim is a strictly a FIRMWARE upgrade not a software upgrade as in Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 which OP received last night.
