Lumia FWs 1232, 3047...

Hi,
checking the amber update in the Nokia's page I realized that for the Lumia 920 (my phone) they exist different major firmwares:

1232.*.*.* (e.g., 1232.5957.1308.0003)
3047.*.*.* (e.g., 3047.0000.1326.2003)
3049.*.*.* (e.g., 3049.0000.1330.0007)

and the amber update is now available only for the 30??.*.*.*.
(similar situation for the other lumias)

Now, I'm wondering why they exists firmware versions with a major so different. Usually they implies different hardware.
I'm wondering especially the difference between the 1232.* and the 30??.*.
Maybe, after the first wave, they improved the hardware and/or changed some component, then created a different firmware branch?

Does anyone know anything about this?

12XX firmware is gdr1 aka portico update (MS Only)
3XXX firmware is gdr2 and nokia amber updates

So you're telling me that the "Latest version" column in that page ( Nokia ), with the status 'Available', indicates the version AFTER the update and not the version for which the Amber is available?

It actually makes sense... thanks
