My sister had been complaining about her Windows Phone for a few weeks now and yesterday I finally found the time to attempt a fix. She'd been complaining about long resume times, crashing apps, poor performance (specifically when trying to launch the camera app with the shutter button), and tiles that no longer update on her Verizon Lumia 928.
When scrolling through her settings, I found this:
Is this malware? I thought out phones were essentially immune to this sort of thing. When trying to tap, nothing happens. Anyone have this happen before? She was running the latest public update on Verizon (Windows Phone 8.0, Lumia Black: GDR3).
I made sure all her photos, ringtones, videos, music, etc. were backed up on her OneDrive account and did a factory reset on the phone. Then I brought her up to speed with an update to Windows Phone 8.1 DP with GDR (Update) 1. She loves her phone now. It's like night and day. She gets toast notifications, apps work, and tiles now update.
Anyway, I'm glad I could "save" someone from going either back to her old iPhone or buy a cheap off contract Android phone.
