So I picked up my Surface Pro 3 this week as a replacement for my Samsung Series 9 laptop. With a couple of discounts, I was able to get the Office/Complete/Sleeve/Keyboard bundle for a bit under $300. Everyone here knows about the others, but I thought I'd drop a mini-review for the sleeve I chose as I really like it.
Since I was purchasing an elegant piece of kit, as our brothers across the pond might say, I wanted a sleeve that would augment that choice rather than interfere with it. Enter the Maroo Woodland sleeve. With its herringbone fabric (wool?) and leather accouterments, it looked like something I would get at Nordstroms rather than find in a bin next to the Forza 5 Xbox One games.

Importantly, to me at least, the branding was equally subtle, fitting in nicely with the understated branding of the Surface itself.

However, it wasn't just looks. The leather flap secures itself with a hidden magnet that seems quite secure. I wouldn't trust it to hold the Surface upside down indefinitely but it felt quite secure without being obtrusive. But what I liked the most is that it has a dedicated pen holder. Since I intend to always have the sleeve with the Surface, it mitigated my need for the flappy thingy on my keyboard.

The sleeve is a sleeve so there's very little extra room. You might be able to fit a few pages of something but it is not a briefcase. Likewise, it has no straps or handles for secure carrying so it has to be in your hand, under your arm, or in your bag at all times. However, the combination of visual appeal, minimalist styling, and some utility should be right in the ballpark for many users. Interestingly, it's listed as "preorder" on Maroo's website but was available at my local MS store (for less than Maroo's website price I might add).
Anyway, I like it. I do wish it had a handle but it's still quite nice and I've had a number of people comment on it even though I've only had it for a few days.

Backside leather:

By the way, I am not affiliated with Maroo in any way...just a fan of this particular sleeve.
