Yes. It supports both and limited to 64 gigs. I think you are looking for performance with 32 gigs, then let me assure you that it performs well. If your sd card is class 10 type or above, then performance will be pretty good also 8.1 update will have no hiccups with such sd cards.

infact, it may even for with those new 128 GB cards.

Performance is dictated by "Class" for the most part. Higher Class number = higher max speed in general.
Class 6 cards probably would run OK, but Class 10 is currently what's often recommended.

I have the 128 in my 1520, I also tried it in the 520 and it worked in there too.
