Messenger app opening to white screen from Notification Center

The Facebook Messenger app is actually pretty good in my opinion - however when if I don't close it completely after use, (by pressing Back instead of Home button) it hardly ever works when I open a message directly from the Notification Center. It either opens to a completely white screen or to a white screen with the blue bar in the bottom. When this happens, I often have to close the app completely before I can get to the message thread...

Does anyone else experience this, or have a fix for it?

I have tried removing the app and reinstalling it...

I have this too :/ I tap the back button and it usually works

I find that it only works about half the time... Sometimes it actually exits the app, and I have to open it again...
